Yuko Warashina at Laura Reyes' Studio

Yuko Warashina

I met Yuko for the first time a few years ago. She is a very sweet young women. But, since she is very quiet I did not learn much about her. But then, one day on her Facebook page, She posted a Doll that she made. It was just a “knot” of knit fabric, maybe recycle and just stitch in a few places. As simple as that…. And it touched me deeply. Then she donated the most funny “Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera” dolls I have ever seen for a benefit art sale we had for a friend in need. The dolls were the first ones to go! Had to ask to the new lucky owner to borrow them until the end of the show so people can be able to see them! Then, I learned about her Camera- less photography and even though my knowledge in this area is really none since I had never heard of it, I could see it was different, interesting, fun and love it! My quiet and sweet new friend was full of creative surprises… When we decided to have a show, her first show in San Miguel, I got her resume for the first time. Winning award doll maker in Japan? … and her Camera-less Photography chosen for “in the Studio Exhibition” by the “Museum of Modern Art”… Moma? After all…. I guess, I was not the only one to notice her unique talents, wow!!!
